EXILE LENS March 2017: TIBET FILM ARCHIVE'S OPEN CALL FOR NEXT GENERATION FILMMAKERSThe Tibet Film Archive is launching a new film competition to provide an opportunity within the exile community in India to encourage the next generation to pursue the cinematic arts. Our Exile Lens Open Call will give you a platform to share your stories. Our goal is to find and foster new voices, the future filmmakers within the Tibetan community in exile.DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 20, 2017. PLEASE EMAIL SUBMISSIONS TO GARUDAKINO@GMAIL.COMTHE PRIZEThe top three winners will receive mentorship throughout the process of making their first film from start to finish. This an educational opportunity to work with award-winning filmmakers and showcase your film to a wider audience.

1st Place Winner receives a professional camera package and basic sound kit that will help you shoot and produce your first short film, mentorship, plus a cash award of 10,000 rupees.

2nd Place Runner-up will receive mentorship and a cash award of 10,000 rupees.

3rd Place Winner will receive honorable mention and mentorship.

The winners will be announced on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 in Dharamsala. Ground transportation and lodging will be provided for the three winners.
ELIGIBILITYTo be eligible, you must be a Tibetan student currently enrolled at a college or university pursuing a degree in India. All majors and fields of study are welcome. Candidates must provide proof of student status and enrollment at a recognized college or university.

The Commitment: The winning filmmakers promise to be pillars of their community and continue to spread the good karma by promising to help other filmmakers.

A complete proposal in English and proof of enrollment at a college or university must be submitted by February 20, 2017. Please email submissions to garudakino@gmail.com.
FILM PROPOSALSAll Proposals must include: Logline, Synopsis, Artistic Vision and Biography.

(1) Logline: A short description that summarizes your film down to its essential key points. 
(75 words or less)

(2) Synopsis: A summary of your film's entire story told in chronological order from start to finish highlighting the key points: Characters, Conflict, Resolution, and Concept. 
(500 words or less)

(3) Artistic Vision: A description of the proposed film’s visual style, genre, and look.
(250 words or less)

(4) Biography: This is your chance to describe who you are and where you come from. Explain why you believe your film should be made and why you should be the one making it. Tell us what is unique about this film and what your connection is to it.
(500 words or less)DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 20, 2017. PLEASE EMAIL SUBMISSIONS TO GARUDAKINO@GMAIL.COMFAQ(1) What we are looking for: Original stories from the Tibetan exile community that could only be told from a Tibetan perspective in any genre or style of filmmaking.

(2) How films will be chosen: All submissions will be due February 20, 2017 and reviewed based on originality, feasibility, merit and potential.

(3) What we don’t want to see: Impractical films that would require large budgets, complicated scenarios, special effects, violence, and weapons.
